Hi there -

My wife and I are thinking of buying a property on Marcel Lake. We were told that the water is not tested and the HOA doesn't recommend swimming in the lake. Can someone provide insight into this? Is it more of a recommendation due to liability concerns, or is the water quality truly not good?

Thanks!

Instead of relying on us take some samples and have them tested. Buying a home is a major investment. You would know first hand what the lake has in it or doesn't have. I just Googled for water testing kits and I found this one (https://www.simpltek.com/). It is about $16 for the coliform water test. You can have them test for other things as well. Or you can look for test yourself.

We can say anything on here, but the facts will speak for themselves. These hotter months are the months that you would go swimming in the lake and they are the months where the counts will be higher. So now would be a good time to test that water.

There's an older thread here that mentions issues with the sewage plant. (not sure if that's been taken care of) Couple of residents posted in the thread, I don't think they're active anymore here but if you private message them an email goes to the account they used to register.
