I have seen on the news that some companies purchase fallen trees on private properties. My father has had a HUGE tree fall in his yard, and it has been cut up, anyone know of one of these companies?
Thanks in advance!

Firewood Sales Up (http://www.wnep.com/global/story.asp?s=8987522 - broken link)

I also saw a news report, on line, about that from wnep. The company was the Balliet Logging Co, in Nuangola area. I don't know where you're located. If you google Carl Balliet Logging & Lumber you can get their phone info.

I'd venture to guess that's whole trees as they are worth a lot of money if they are big because they can take them to the sawmill.

If it's cut up it's only good for firewood, put a sign in your front yard "Unsplit Logs $30 a pickup truck load" and it will magically disappear.

Not sure what a fair price is but that's all I'd be willing to pay. Getting them on the truck then splitting is still a lot of work.

Assuming most homeowners don't own a bobcat and a splitter you'd have to rent both which of course cuts into the marketability of the wood.

Running a splitter isn't exactly easy either, that's a couple days job if you want enough wood for an entire season.

My brother used to have a tree business so I've done a little work with trees.
