PROFIT – an archaic word no longer in use.

If you had purchased $1000 of shares in Delta Airlines
one year ago, you will have $49.00 today.

If you had purchased $1000 of shares in AIG
one year ago, you will have $33.00 today.

If you had purchased $1000 of shares in Lehman Brothers
one year ago, you will have $0.00 today.

But---- if you had purchased $1000 worth of beer
one year ago, drank all the beer,
then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund,
you will have received $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment plan
is to drink heavily & recycle.

It's called the 401-Keg.

LMFAO! I LOVE the televised city council meetings! People can call Mr. McGoff an "idiot," and he'll just say "Thank you!"

McGoff is a fool. The way he sat up there and laughed the other day as Ozzie Quinn was speaking was an embarrassment. Now I think Ozzie sounded kind of crazy with his talk about this business owner not being "certified in aromatherapy" for selling some kind of scented body lotions, but the president of council should still act professionally.

Does Ozzie have something personally against Danielle, the prospective entrepreneur here? I mean, I disagree regularly with many of the viewpoints of Mr. Quinn, but this past meeting was just VERY peculiar indeed by how VEHEMENT he was in his assertions against Danielle & Co. I know several female acquaintances who have patronized this woman's store in "The Summit," and they have nothing unkind to say about her business. If nothing else this brou-ha-ha encouraged me that night to go online and research more about aromatherapy, a subject I was ignorant of (but was apparently the evening's "hottest topic.") If Danielle & Company seeks expansion into a transitioning neighborhood near the new medical college, then more power to them! I've long believed that the area where Florence/Midtown, Pinebrook, and the Lower Hill all meet was ripe for renewal with the new medical college on the way, and she may be the first "pioneer" into that area. I won't go into much details, but I have solid plans now to establish my own retail venue in the city of Scranton around the year 2020, or 2025 at the very latest (assuming the apocalypse doesn't really happen in 2012!) Anything the city could do to ENCOURAGE new business ventures should be lauded, not condemned. I have no problem with the city giving LOANS to new small businesses, especially if they can generate interest and, in turn, PROFIT for the city. Now grants, on the other hand, don't even get me started on those! LOL!

The problem is that they write up these contracts or loan agreements to basically state that if they hire like 3 people in the time frame of the loan it becomes a grant....i.e. Alexanders and the $250,000 loan, I mean grant, no wait loan, no grant...which is already.......Now its a grant.

See what I mean. Poochie recieved a loan, I mean grant or loan or whatever and they are gone. The tax sturcture in the downtown does not allow these small shops to grow much and the lack of traffic kills them. She should stay right where she is, but hey you can't pass up Fanucci putting her hands in our pockets and handing this cash out can ya.

Not to mention its probably not the best time to be moving or opening any type of retail business anywhere, nevermind the blackhole that is downtown Scranton.

What does everyone make of this shocker about Joanne Pilchesky, the wife of famed Scranton political message board operator Joseph Pilchesky? I'm speechless that a man who rants and raves tirelessly about ending corruption is living in the same home as someone who just embezzled $152,000 from her deceased father's estate. Sure, they are two different people, but do you honestly mean to tell me that Mr. Pilchesky didn't notice anything "unusual?"

UPDATE: According to Doherty Deceit, the couple's web site, the Pilchesky's are victims of a corrupt justice system. I suppose I'll reserve judgment fully until more details are known, but if Mrs. Pilchesky, knowing her father was near-death, decided to CONSCIOUSLY empty her father's accounts and transfer them to her own in order to avoid that money being included as part of the estate, then I really don't see her as having much of a plausible legal defense, especially if there are bank statements evidencing this.
