It's that time again. I've had a series of successful dates with a pretty special girl, and I'm all about out of ideas for what to do this weekend. So far we've gone to the movies and watched movies home. Not a terribly diverse variety of dates, clearly. But I know this region has more to offer than stadium-seating at Cinemark and HD-movies through Comcast cable, right?

So let's have at 'em, NEPA Sub-Forum.

What are your fabulous date ideas for this time of the year (Feb-March)?

My ideas:
  • Dinner.

I can do this multiple ways: any of the fabulous suggestions the sub-forum came up with earlier last month; a romantic home-cooked meal (which I am quite proficient at); dessert or maybe a full meal after an outing someplace else (especially shopping at Tannersville and then dinner in East Stroudsburg).

  • Ice Skating.

  • Snow Tubing.

  • Music Box Playhouse Play.

They're putting on Fiddler on the Roof right now. I mean I'm not terribly excited about that play. Anyone really like it?

  • SWB Penguins Hockey Game.

Hockey games make good dates. You sit close to each other, there's lots of time to talk, etc.

  • Road Trip.

I'm perfectly willing to take the date suggestions to Philly or elsewhere for the night to do something nice. (And then drive back home).

I wouldn't count either as particularly "fabulous" but here are two.

Casino night. Less dangerous locally than a trip to Vegas, since there aren't any 24-hr chapels to get you into any trouble.

Day trip to NYC. Do they still run mid-week bus trips that you two could maybe play hookey from your job/school?

For some reason I agree ( oh do you believe that?) Fiddler on the Roof was about the most boring musical to me. Its just that there were so many great ones.

A day in NYC, walking in Bryant Park, maybe taking in a show is a fantastic date.

If you go to the outlets you could go into Stroudsburg and eat (on Anns Street) at the Willow Tree.
It is a cozy place, in the spring you can enjoy the outside by the river and the "Willow Tree"...

Also while at the Outlets you could just take a skip over to the Great Wolf Lodge for lunch.
It is such a sight to see, so gorgeous.......and the gift shop is fun. There is a few restaurants and a Pizza Hut......Take your pictures by the huge fireplace, that should be still going if its cold up there.

Check and see when the St. Patricks parties are happening.....
The Mardi Gras party we went to last night was a bunch of fun.......

If it ever, ever, warms up go to Atlantic City...roam the boardwalk....go in and out of the Casinos.
Have dinner at one of the nice places that are inside most of the resort hotels.

Ok, thats all my ideas.....for now

A friend and I are heading back to New York City next Wednesday via the JoJo's Travelers bus. It's a bargain for a round-trip fare, the ride is quick and efficient, and the options for something "romantic" in NYC are limitless. You can always take her on a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park.
