It utterly amazes me how the State Police have 3 Troopers working covering 560 miles each. How unfair and dangerous it is for them. Response time: 1 hour and 10 minutes.

I also might add that the communities that have good security that are trained with emergency medical techniques such as WLE, it is great to have first responders there in a couple of minutes. Most people here are from the metropolitian area where response time is quick and that unfortunatley could be the matter of life and death.

Correct, the police are the people that show up to put up the yellow tape to protect the crime scene. Certainly they can try and prevent the same person from doing it again but that's no consolation for the original victim.

If you choose to live in rural area that's the downside, you can't expect fast response time for the police or emergency services. PA is huge, they can't possibly fund the man power needed for patrolling all that area.

Like I said I can protect myself it was my neighbor's alarm. The weekenders should protect themselves, they are responsible for the protection of their homes as well.

Everything ok? Nice to see you back Hat!
Unfortunately, it goes with living around here, it's a real 'take care of yourself' area!

We invested in an alarm system and motion detector spot lights. Certainly not burgular proof, but hopefully a deterrant. Also have an indoor lamp on a timer. It's about the best you can do when you do not live there full time.

Hi Pocono, yes it is a scary thought especially if it becomes a dangerous situation with an intruder in the house.

Alarm systems basically serve a purpose for fire in my opinion and perimeter motion lights are great to have. We have installed them in the four corners of the house.
