Is there a hotline for anonymously reporting tax evaders? The week *before* I left Texas, I cancelled my homestead exemption and changed all filing statuses. But that's me.
LOTS of people claim residence in Florida. My neighbors in Vienna claimed Delaware and always kept their car with DE plates in the garage. Would I turn them in? No. Definitely not. It's none of my business and I don't care enough to bother. Why do you?

>>>In any case, you may want to confront it head on, and just tell her that she may want to initiate 'fessing up to them, because you plan to report her actions.<<<

OMG, I would definitely NOT advise anyone to do that! That could be very dangerous.

Isn't there a 10% reward for turning in tax cheats at least at the federal level? If they don't have it at the state and local level they should.

Denton56, unless the neighbor has spilled her stories to everyone, she's going to know who turned her in, as others suggested. My point is, if one thinks it's dangerous that she knows who reported her, then one had better not report her. Many people respect someone more if issues are discussed to their faces than behind their backs.

And, if one really thinks s/he has a dangerous neighbor, s/he has a lot bigger problems than tax cheating.

I think the busybody made it crystal clear why she thinks it's her business and why she cares enough to bother: because the object of her hatred is *gasp* a Republican. How very hopey-changey of her.

Why the sympathy for a tax evader here? Too many people evade their taxes, we become Argentina.

I bet the OP's neighbor complains about every government service that isn't delivered instantly, too.

That would be a good enough reason for me. In fact if I were the IRS I'd consider that "probable cause".
