Hi - we're new to the area with no family (or friends yet!) so we want to go out on Christmas Eve with our kids for a nice warm (child friendly) holiday dinner. Can anyone recommend anyplace in Fairfax County or Alexandria City? Looking for the right atmosphere...want something charming, fireplaces blazing etc.

PS I should add we don't eat seafood, so no fish..

Clydes at the Town Center in Reston is open Christmas Eve. Its nicely decorated and has a warm atmosphere in a Christmassy kind of way. The food is excellent. They have children's menus, which is always a good sign. I saw on their menu that they have an early bird special (20 percent off), which is ideal for families with kids. Also, there's a skating rink next door and a movie theater down the street.

Looks like the rink has something fun planned that night...

So its a fake downtown, but they decorate it real nice for holidays.
