Hello. I will be moving to the area for my new job, and am trying to get a feel for the drive time from Ashburn (Brambleton?) to RTC, during NON rush hour times.

I realize you can take the tollway or alternate routes. If you could share both that would be really helpful.

Thank you.

I'd add another 5-10 minutes onto that from Brambleton - especially now that there is a new traffic light at the intersection of Loudoun County Parkway/Mooreview Parkway.

I apologize for my ignorance here, but can you clarify - is greenway the same as tollway?

The Dulles Greenway is the privately-owned part of 267 that extends from west of Route 28 all the way to Leesburg. The part of 267 that runs from Route 28 east towards Tysons Corner is called the Dulles Toll Road.

From Brambleton, you could take the Greenway to the Toll Road to Reston (non-rush toll: $4.45; non-rush is 9 am - 4 pm and 6:30 pm - 6:30 am).

Or, you could take Loudoun County Parkway to Waxpool to Route 28, and get on the Toll Road ($1.25). Avoiding the Greenway probably adds 10-15 minutes non-rush, depending on the light at LCP and Waxpool, which is pretty terrible.

Excellent. Thanks so much for sharing this information with me.

Any insight on quality of life in Ashburn that makes it worth the add time on road, potential toll charges? From everything I see on the web, it looks quite nice and safe and positive environment to raise my kids. I drove around Reston/Herndon a bit, so I dont have alot to compare it to except those 2 towns.

Ashburn (and almost all of Loudoun County, for that matter) is a wonderful, very safe place to raise kids.
