No, she was standing in "line" trying to buy a T-shirt. People push in those lines because there's no real organization to them and someone pushed her into this very drunk guy, he yelled at her, she yelled back that it wasn't her fault and he punched her in the mouth and she fell to the ground and shattered her teeth.

Oh, wow. What did they end up charging him with?

She called for the police. He ran and they never found him. Of course she was taken out by ambulance and had some mighty expensive dental work done.

Loud drunk people that aren't physically bothering anyone are just pure entertainment for me as well, but maybe I just have more a tolerance for it and fully expect to see people being louder and more obnoxious at those kinds of events.

I haven't been to Wolf Trap in awhile, I went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd awhile back, but don't they not only let you tailgate, but you can BYOB on their lawn as well??

Aahhh... the sound of tupperware being opened and the clink of wine glasses....

Wow....this definitely seals the deal for me not going to Buffet. I can't even imagine how they will be able to get everyone in the parking lots in time for the concert....and try to buy a tshirt as well? Forget it....no time. I'll bet they are going to have a lot of issues....serves 'em right. People are more likely to be in a better state after a day of tailgating rather than those who try and get a whole day's alcohol into a few hours time! But - regardless....I have been tailgating there for several years and in our group we have a DD, usually two so that the other one doesn't feel left out. Now, the DD gets to have a few drinks throughout the course of the day but we are talking about getting there at 10am....3 or 4 drinks over the course of 13 hours isn't an issue. Everyone else in the group can drink as much as they want or as little....but everyone gets to have fun and we still get to be safe. I am not going to blame Nissan, or Jiffy Lube Live for a drunk on the road. We all need to take responsibility for ourselves. Nothing ever seems to be anyone's fault anymore.

I will say that, based on what my daughter told me, there is a LOT of underaged drinking going on at the tailgating. Maybe not so much at Buffett because they don't flock to his concert but at WMZQ festival and when they have Warped Tour (which they haven't done in awhile), it's a big thing for them. There's not enough cops/security to enforce it and, IMO, it's rampant. I wonder how many of the after-concert accidents involved underage drinkers?

I agree with you 100 percent on this. We as a society seem to have lost all sense of personal responsibility. Instead we seek someone else to blame for our bone-headed decisions. Your kid gets drunk tailgating; it is obviously not your fault, because you are not responsible for instilling proper values in the child you are raising.

I have tailgated there since the place opened for numerous events. What I encountered there was sedate compared to what I saw tailgating for football games. Yes, there are unsavory elements and people overindulging, but that is at any event at any venue. All this is going to encourage is people getting trashed on the roads while waiting in the massive traffic jam to get in the event. I can't wait to see how they are going to deal with the numerous complaints they will receive because people missed portions of their show while sitting in traffic.

Reporting in!

My first report is from my daughter's friend who just got a job there serving drinks in to VIP ticketholders. Apparently there was very little pre-partying and it was all about the concert (imagine!!). Said that compared to previous years, the concert didn't seem like it used to because no tailgating.

My cousin reported that he was not allowed into the venue until 4:00 p.m. Of course there was a line in. He had to wait in the parking lot to meet the rest of his party, which you are allowed to do, and no one bothered him. He did see several people getting arrested in the parking lot though he didn't know what for. There was no real "tailgating" going on but it didn't seem a problem if you wanted to sit around for awhile and wait for your group so long as you weren't in the lawn chairs with a cooler.

By the time he got in and went to buy a T-shirt for someone they were all sold out as there was a crush of people doing that all at the same time.

He still really enjoyed the concert and would go again but, yep, no tailgating.

From a LE standpoint the police officers working the WMZQ Fest said this was the best crowd they had ever seen. I spoke with a good friend of mine who is still with the PD and works at the concerts. Arrests were down sharply. Fights, disorderlies and just about everything else was easily handled as compared to previous years. Take this for what it's worth. I'm retired and don't really care and I never attend a concert here for any reason although I worked there a lot when I was still with the PD.
