Thanks for the update irisheyes - I'm probably one of the few who has never been in a Wegmans.

If you not have been to a Wegmans, it's going to be a drastic change for you. First the store originated from Central New York and it's not owned by some Corporation, because Wegmans is owned by a Family. You will see brands that you're unfamiliar with. Secondly, they are in a league all by themselves which no one can compare, not even Harris Teeter. There is also a real brick oven in their store so the breads, bagels, cookies are made in-house and not in some factory. The selection of meats in my opinion needs work because I would much rather see different types of dead animals rather than the plain old pork, beef and chicken. Last year during the snow storm, Wegmans was the only store that had snow shovels left over. The prepared foods are great with their selection of different types of seafood is 3x more than Harris Teeters'. Good luck shopping, I hope you enjoy it. I grew up on Wegmans back up North. Go there just once, and you will enjoy it.

Thanks for the rating VRE - I actually mostly shop at Teeter (and I am a bargain/sale shopper so don't others slam me) - I occasionally go to the other stores but Teeter is close, most that work there seem happy to be working there, etc.

What VRE described is pretty much my my experience with Wegmans as well...A family business that works hard to satisfy their customers.. Their prepared foods are great, their breads are like being home in NY and honestly, their selection is great and, prices are competitive on most things.. We will be able to walk to this when it opens and I am super excited about that!

Now if they'd just reopen the road through the base so we in Mount Vernon can get there more easily.

They had started a road near the base and was supposed to connect telegraph with Route 1 but we haven't seen work being done in a while.. It is supposed to open sometime next year though according to this..I hope they are right...

Telegraph and Mulligan Roads
Awesome. I did not know that. However looking at the map it looks like it still goes through the base. Are they going to allow that then?

I've always thought it was rather ridiculous that the people with guns walled themselves off from the supposed terrorists and left the rest of us to fend for ourselves. I think it was just an excuse to keep the public out. They were probably just waiting for some event to come along so they'd have reason to do it. Now that 10 years have past we need to start toning things down a bit. Time for the yellow M&Ms.
