We have a child that will be entering K next year and my husband and I are debating on the value of public school vs. the cost of private school. Not too crazy about SOLs and the "value" they are not adding to public education.
We live in Loudoun Co. and are looking at local private schools. Does anyone have any personal experience that they can offer? Pros/Cons of your recommendation? I don't really look on those school sites since they delete a lot of bad reviews...

I can recommend Montessori Children's House of Loudoun, it is on the corner of Church Street and Cascades Parkway in Sterling. Two of my grandchildren went there through pre-K and Kindergarten. They learned good study habits and were good readers by first grade. They are now in public schools, the oldest is in 4th grade and in the gifted and talented program and the second grader is doing very well also.

I would stay away from the boyd schools. It's a very for profit school and the teacher turnover is huge. Our experience with the teachers was good but the administration focus is on keeping the loud parents happy which meant that the rest of our kids have to deal with the changes made to accommodate those few. It was not a good 3 months that we were there.

Funny, that sounds just like the public schools.

Loudoun Day School in Leesburg, Virginia Academy & Christian Fellow in Ashburn are few schools I know my clients kids go to. Virginia Academy typically has a wait list. Other schools both my kids went early childhood Montessori School of Herndon. We love the stability that school in terms of both teachers and the approach to teach.

Loudoun Country Day School is the best private school in Loudoun. They are expensive but top notch.

What specifically is this comment based on? I doubt one school is "the best" for every single child.

That's what I've heard too. The new campus is beautiful (although I realize that has nothing to do with how good the school is). In my understanding they screen their students well before accepting them in their program.
