Goodluck!
Thank you! Fairfax Service Center would be very convenient to her office

She has used Fairfax BMW because of the location and they always give her a loaner.
Good thing, this time, as they did keep the car so long

As I said there, if Potomac Yard is convenient to you, Alexandria Bavarian Service is fantastic. Independent shop consisting of three or four BMW nuts, one of whom owns the place. It's worth going there just to see Grant's collection of rare Bimmers.
I did read that thread, but some of it dated back to '08.

We travel to the area frequently and I can guarantee that when hubby hears about Alexandria Bavarian Service..........he will be there!

You guys have been great, lots of options that we will be checking out!
Thanks a Ton!

That's good you do your own work, it saves a lot of money. I still do my own brake jobs and oil changes during the summer. It just boggles my mind that a pulley can fall off a vehicle. Toyota has their quality issues too, but none of which I am aware of will leave you stranded.

You just don't get it, man. Toyotas are B O R I N G.

Bimmer owners are making a statement...it doesn't matter if the thing regularly requires thousands in repairs...it's a "state of mind" kinda thing.

(Pre-Ford) Jaguar owners are worse....they KNOW the things are going to conk out but they can't help themselves, they gotta have it. My (British) sister-in-law is the only person I know that gets a Christmas card from her towing company!

My next door neighbor bought a new Ferrari California last year....he just had it "serviced" and it was like 3 grand for basically an oil change and a bit of tweaking. But it does turn heads like a bimmer never could....

Eurasian in Tysons Corner. Have gotten work done there several times, always pleased. $95 for oil changes there. Don't even both with the jokers at BMW Fairfax or any of the dealerships in NOVA. They all suck. Too much volume than they can handle and lots of pissed off customers. If you want a nightmare, take your car to the stealership.

This just cracked me up! Thanks for the great laugh!

Thing is, daughter is driving my hand-me-down. I will want it back. So, I have a vested interest in its' care.

There are plenty of cars out there to chose from. Drive what works for you.

We are discovering this

They kept the car for 5 days, did not fix the front end shimmy (original complaint), she picked it up (Tues. evening) and the brakes were squealing. This morning when she left her parking space there was an oil stain under her car.

She took it back this am and demanded that they fix it properly. Haven't heard the outcome of that visit yet.

We will be looking at all of your recommendations for future service.
You guys are great!

Join the local BMW club chapter and go to the socials. You can pick up LOTS of information about servicing your BMW.

I owned a Toyota in the '90s, and it was a great car. I used to admire Toyota as a company. But after they knowingly sold cars in the US for which they had a recall out in Japan, I've sworn never to give them any business again.

BMW is one of the last independent car companies. (Even Ferrari is owned by Fiat, Porsche and Audi by VW, Volvo by some Chinese company. I think Daimler is still independent, having freed itself of the Chrysler albatross.) It's also an innovative company and treats its employees well--and it even has major factories in the US, employing thousands of Americans.

There is no 2008 model year 330, at least not in North America. In any case, I've had the opposite experience -- well, not quite opposite, but excellent experiences with Toyota and BMW, and relatively bad experiences with Hondas (relative to the Bimmers and Toyotas, though not as bad as I've read people having with some other cars). We've owned several of each. The most reliable vehicles we've owned have been the BMW 330i and a Toyota Corolla.
