When we went out earlier this morning (8am) it was like a ghost town out there. Very few people out driving, Starbucks and the grocery store were about empty - rare for a Saturday morning.

Now that there is snow mixed in with the rain, my errands are done and I'm staying inside. No way am I going to drive out there right now. Around here, random snowflakes tend to make some cars careen out of control. I'm not sure why that is. It just is.

Default Snowed all day here

Lovettsville (Western Loudoun) woke up to snow and it is just now diminishing (after 6pm). It has snowed continually all day, yet I think we still have the same amount as this morning. If the temperatures had been colder, I think we would have those 8+ inches...but it was kind of nice to have a pretty snow day, yet not have messy roads and driveway shoveling.

We woke up with no Dish Network (still out), so we spent the day by the fire doing jigsaw puzzles, working on indoor home improvement projects and taking naps. Kids went sledding for a bit, but it was so wet, they couldn't stay out long without needing to change clothes.

When we left Purcellville about 3PM we had about 3.5-4" on the ground and it was still coming down hard. It snowed almost the entire way back to Old Town Alexandria, but once we got to about the pentagon it mixed with rain. At the old place in Old Town (Del Ray) it was raining and spitting some snow, then it turned to all snow for about 45 minutes before ending. No accumulation. The accumulation seemed to be very light from Leesburg on in on 7, and totally disappeared once we got a couple miles from 267 on eastbound 7.

Stopped in Herndon on the way back at a friends place, and they had a heavy dusting but nothing more. Once we got past Leesburg we started seeing plow piles in intersections on 7, and even plow build up on the side of 7. Back here at the house in Purcellville we ended up with about 5 inches. Its pretty amazing the difference that just several miles made between here and Leesburg, then between Leesburg and Reston. Ill post some pics in a bit.

Mean time, Here is a video. Not sure how to actually embed it here. Tried everything I know of and it did not work. Sorry for that. It was taken around 10AM this morning in our back yard. Hope you enjoy it! (and the two little cute stars of the show too!)

As promised, here are some photos from last Saturday's snow storm taken out here in Purcellville, VA. I only got the first 1/2 of the storm as we had things to do that day and had to leave around 3. We ended up with 4.5-5" of snow. Most of these were taken between 8AM and noon.

Great photos! Do you actually live "in town"? I love Purcellville - it's so cute!

Thank you! Yep, we live "in town". Couple of blocks from the "down town historic district" at Main St. and 21st St. That intersection is maybe a 3 minute walk from our place.

Snow does look pretty on the pines. Nice house, by the way.
