RICHMOND, Va. - A Loudoun County Republican Committee Halloween-themed graphic featuring a zombie President Barack Obama with a bullet hole in his forehead has provoked condemnations left and right.
The montage, created to rouse interest in GOP activities at Loudoun's Halloween night parade, mingles altered images including a disfigured U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi and zombie Obama supporters.
The posterized image of a rotting, undead Obama with a bleeding, large-caliber hole an inch above his right eye prompted Democrats to cry foul and state GOP chairman Pat Mullins to denounce it as "disgusting."
A conservative northern Virginia blog, Too Conservative, called it "shameful" and recommended it be reported to the Secret Service.
There was no immediate reply to telephone calls and e-mails to the Loudoun GOP and the event's named organizers.

One should give credit to the state GOP chairman as well as the conservative blog for calling out the inappropriateness of that. No matter who is in the White House or your views of them, placing a "bullet hole" in the head of a Presidential caricature is not cool.

Was it childish, Yes. Is it inappropriate for a Gov't party, Yes. BUT this IS still America! But reporting it to the secret service???? Now that just ridiculous. That just as childish as doing it in the first place.

It's AGAINST THE LAW to threaten the president. Period. Doesn't matter if you're "joking" or what. Just like yelling "bomb" in the airport. It's a no-no. Zombie Obama? Fine--all in good fun. But a bullet in the head? Over the line.

I'm sure the Secret Service is all over this already. Even if they don't believe the perpetrator was seriously intending to threaten the president, they can't allow the public to get the message that it's OK to seem to threaten him as long as you mean it as a joke. Then it becomes a matter of interpretation. We can't afford that with any president.

How about any Republican candidate with a hole in his foot? Would that be over the line?

Or has the stupid taken over the dems? Sounds ridiculous doesn't this? Well so does yours considering the condemnation by the GOP chairman and others. Please read the entire article and try again. The stupid is limited to a select few.

This.

"You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Carlingtonian again."

However, given all the idiocy that has gone in the GOP, esp last few years (crosshairs on reps, obama disfigured, made out to be the joker...etc, etc...) this really is not all that surprising. Not what I would expect out of a GOP in Northern VA though. I would expect it much more from southern and south western parts of the state. To be fair, I'm sure the Dems have done similarly idiotic things now and then as well. Good for those within the GOP who called them out and denounced this as well. While its great for those in their respective parties to be all supportive of those in their own parties, its also good to force accountability within your own party as well. Now, if only we could force some real accountability in the government as a whole, that would truly be something.

Big deal. Democrats probably did some of the same stuff with Bush in office. It is funny how everyone is now afraid of offending/disrespecting the president because he's black. If he was white this would not even be news.
