Does anyone know what that large construction project is at the SE corner of the intersection of Rt. 7 and 28? It's in a large, wooded plot between Rt 28 and Algonkian Parkway (or whatever Algonkian is called on that side of the 7) and almost hidden from the road. You see it best from the ramp leading from 7 to Algonkian.

It seems to have a lot of generators and an unusual roof. There are private roads leading to it, but this looks like a secured campus. I haven't read a thing about it in the paper, which surprises me for such a big building. (Unless, of course, I just didn't happen to see the article.)

That is the area for the Kincora Village Center and I believe the building you are talking about will be the baseball stadium. There have been many articles in the papers about it and many heated meetings with the board of supervisors. I can't imagine what traffic will be like if the entrance is close to route 7. You can google Kincora and get some more information.

That's a baseball stadium? It looks like an enclosed building, and it's on the east side of 28. I'll have to drive by again and take a second look. If that's the stadium, cool! I like it's location better than I thought I would.

I was guessing about the stadium because of the odd appearance, I couldn't think what else would look like that.

Hmmm.... nothing in the paper? Sounds like CIA. They'd love to tell you, but then they'd have to kill you!

Kincora is west of Route 28.

You can use LOLA (http://www.loudoun.gov/Default.aspx?tabid=2566 - broken link) and/or the tax assessment database to look up stuff like this. Most of that wooded area is owned by the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation / DTC Partners. It looks like it's probably related to DTC expansion. It is marked "Office Cluster" in the Route 28 Corridor Land Use Concept Map (http://www.loudoun.gov/controls/speerio/resources/RenderContent.aspx?data=5357eb8cc7194787b84607bb2c 95648f&tabid=327 - broken link).

You could always the county planning department and ask them.

Also west of 28. West of Kincora, actually - along Loudoun County Parkway.

A friend of mine thinks the generators and other equipment indicate it's a large data center of some sort. Which would fit in with the Office Building site designation.
