Hello!

I'll soon be living in Reston and working on Glebe Road in Arlington. I'd rather leave my wide-bodied, gas-guzzling, Pontiac Firebird behind (and eventually show it). With that said, I'm looking for a lift. Please let me know if you have any room in your vehicle.

This commute would take me 9 to 5, M-F.

Also, looking for trail buddies and dog lovers in Reston; I have a Border Collie, she'll be 4 this year; also looking for a dog walker.

Looking for any Italian aisles in the local food stores. How is the selection for Italian delis? Any late night diners?

I know it's not Urban, I've read that much in the forum, and realize in some ways Reston seems provincial. And while a part of me is very laid-back and down-to-earth (and I like a slower pace), I do need some cultural, funky aspects of a town, too.

Any good mechanics?

Your help is appreciated.

Oh, come on, people, I don't bite. I read through the Sticky but it's a bit stale.
So, again:
Pizza - oh, thin crust, not chain.
Dog walker - my dog will hold it, but why if I can find someone for the two o'clock hour (pm).
Catholic church - I'm not always good.
Best route to catch the Vienna metro --- I'm off Old Tiverton Circle.
Good mechanic - honest, bright, works with a sense of urgency.
Looking for some new, sporty male/female friends
Love wine and cheese parties, museums, outdoorsy stuff, mostly.
Seriously, if anyone can carpool me into Arlington daily, please let me know.
Thanks!

You are going to have to give it a bit longer than 90 minutes before complaining that no one has responded...

As far as commute, have you looked at taking the bus? The FFX Connector runs from Reston to W. Falls Church. Is there a slug line out that way? I highly, highly doubt you'll find a carpool partner from such a limited pool as city data.

So, again . . .
If your job is on Glebe Rd, is it near a metro stop? There's one in Ballston. if so, you can catch the bus in Reston to West Falls Church and just take metro.

Another suggestion: ask around at your new job/office and see if anyone lives near Reston. Easier to hop a ride that way with a co-worker.

Pizza and good crust? Let me know when/if you find that!! I come from a place where pizza pies are always handmade (tossed in the air and such), even in a mall. That's a sight I've missed down here.

Wine and cheese parties -- the art galleries, theatres, museums, and appropriate openings are found mostly in downtown DC. As you make friends, I'm sure you'll attend some. Also, organizations, embassies, offices, etc. have events and receptions. And there are plenty of Happy Hours throughout the area. Lots of fairs, festivals, wine tastings, holiiday parades, tours, etc. Many are posted on our Forum.

Plenty of outdoor stuff including biking and walking trails with plenty more if you head west to the mountains.

BTW, Welcome to Northern Virgina!

CaliTerp07, er, patience is the LEAST of my virtues. LOL, LOL! thankfully my humor saves the day.
I have NOT looked at the bus, but I will (I really don't want to, though). I want speed!

South Jersey Styx, gonna' miss Delios on 33...and the NY bagels. oooo, am I ever.
Right. I saw the Ballston metro stop. It's like, mmmn, .4 miles, not bad.

So don't go down to the Vienna stop and then take it to Ballston? I don't know.

The Forum is great for shout outs like this, and I really appreciate the feedback.

'Cause I'm just a girl alone in the world.

It's always a bit scary going to a new place.

lol, if you're looking for speed, Reston to Arlington at 9 am is not where you ought to be. Even with a carpool partner.

I don't know about in Reston, but the Italian Store on Lee highway is only a couple of miles from Glebe in Arlington. Great italian subs at their deli counter, and a bunch of italian imports.

MikeVA --- that is great news cuz I'm Italian! (Only know Italian cooking). I'm a horrible baker. I will be scouting that out. Thanks a lot.
CaliTerp --- omg! How DID you get that handle?! What does it mean?
My own? I heard Nelson Mandella say "South Africa!" And it sounded, like, my handle. LOL! And, here we are.
Thanks, guys.
