I am wondering if any of my fellow CD forumers have been diagnosed and treated for CFS. I am also seeking a doctor preferably in eastern part of VA (Hampton Roads up to Nova or perhaps MD) who can treat this debilitating disorder. To date I have tried many vitamins/supplements and even a holistic doctor with very disappointing results. TIA.

Have you seen a regular doctor and had a thorough checkup including bloodwork? Perhaps there's an underlying medical issue with fatigue as a symptom. Sounds like you're self-diagnosing/referring. Would suggest you see a general practicioner MD first.

I agree, see a doctor. As a supplement, however, have you ever tried tai chi? I find many of the exercises energize me, especially the ones that involve pulling energy toward you (Repulse the Monkey in particular works for me, also the one called Grasping The Pearl at the Bottom of the Sea). I had to do it for about 6 months to start feeling this energy, however.

I have seen quite a few doctors and have had extensive bloodwork done. CFS is a mystery to most medical doctors and some don't even recognize it as a legitimate condition hense I am trying to find one who is familiar with it and has treated it. There is much more to CFS than just fatigue though that seems to be the most bothersome aspect.

Did any of them discuss putting you on an anti-depressant? Fatigue is often associated with depression due to low seratonin levels affecting the firing of synapses in the brain. No way really to diagnose except to see if the drug has an impact.

If you need to find a specialist, then I recommend you try calling the following organizations. I personally like Johns Hopkins University better based on personal experience. It was surgery, not CFS.

Johns Hopkins University Medicine http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/doctors/index.html.

Georgetown University Hospital Find A Doctor - Washington, DC

Good luck with this! Finding a new doc can be challenging!

Have you ruled out sleep apnea? If not, I would visit a sleep center.

I have taken a sleep apnea test and the results were negative (thankfully). CFS is much more than just being depressed though depression can be associated with having CFS.
