The chemicals are unbalanced some how, maybe the ph is off. It truly is not hard to keep them balanced. There is also a great product that does away with the foam when it occurs, but if the chemicals are watched, it doesn't happen. Even though we didn't use ours as much as we could have I always check with a dip stick each week to make sure all was well. Usually my only problem was the acidity was low and good old baking soda helped with that, plus keeping the bromine up. We had bromine, not chlorine, so don't know how much different that was. As I said, we loved it, wished we had used it more, but it is time to move on.

But there IS something nice about soaking in a hot bubbling tub on a cold night when the stars are out.
Yes, don't do much drinking around them and watch the time you stay in. Many years ago I learned the hard way when visiting my brother in California, oh those days of youth. .

Ours is on a patio under our sun room that replaced an aged deck so it was protected. LOVED being in it when it was snowing outside and around us!

LOL Hey, maybe we finally found something new to say when someone asks that old chestnut "What's the difference between MD and Nova?"

We had one when we bought our house in Vienna 11 years ago. I was never really a "hot tub person" but since it was here we used it somewhat. My husband did more than I did because for most of those 11 years I was either pregnant or trying to become pregnant. We planned to let the kids use it as a pool and not heat it too high, but we were waiting until the youngest was older. The wood frame around the tub started to rot away in the last 2 years, and we never fixed it since we weren't using it anymore. In the fall we gave it away on Craigslist in preparation for putting our house on the market.

I'm glad to hear you could get rid of it. My fear is we won't have any takers when we get around to it, especially with a bad motor.

Would the plastic liner float, you think?

Remove it from the decking, motor, and everything else, then put a sail in the middle, and it could be a cheap and funky (if completely unmaneuverable) sailboat. Or an alternative to an inner tube, for river tubing.

LOL! I have visions of this down at Lake Anna! Think I'll stick to our pontoon.

A couple of years ago, my friend bought a house on Army-Navy Drive overlooking 395, with an in-ground hot tub in the front yard. Who the heck wants to have a relaxing soak while watching traffic on 395?? (There isn't much of a back yard, but still. It was right outside the front door. Bizarre.) He promptly removed it, sold it on Craiglist, and had the hole filled in with dirt.
