I'm putting up a new fence and am looking for recommendations. I did a search, but not much came up. I'm really interested in a smaller company and not a big national franchise, but won't count them out. I live in Haymarket. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Carter did a fence for us last year. No complaints.

We did adirondack fence last year. They came in lower than others and generally did a good job. I wasn't blown away - nor was I unhappy. Worth getting a quote from, but wouldnt pay "extra" for them to do it.

BTW, our fence from Lions is now 1.5 years old. Looks OK, but the electroplate galvanized nails have (as I'd predicted) left black streaks in some places. I don't care *that* much, and it won't show that much once the cedar has aged to gray, but it's one reason to specify they use the hot-dipped (dull gray) nails--or better yet, galvanized deck screws. (Though they'll object to that because it takes marginally longer than using a nail gun.)

We used Expert Fence for our fence last year. They did a good job that Id recommend them. They also gave us the lowest quote out of many that we asked.

Carter Fence did ours a few weeks ago. Fantastic service and they are constantly rated #1 on Checkbook.org.

We were very particular to the details and Carter fence made changes on the fly for us without hesitation. Moreover their customer service and bottom line price was fantastic. Don't waste your time like we did with 4 other quotes, Carter was the one for us.

P.S. Bruce Silvia (one of the foreman, and the one I would ask for) gave our dog a very special treat during the final walkthrough.

Highly Recommend.

Long Fence is another one. I wouldn't recommend one in particular, I'd just go with the one that comes up with the lowest quote.

Another thumb up for Expert Fence. Excellent customer service and good quality materials. Matched all the other estimates I had AND used better materials. Long Fence was very high pressure sales and pushy.
