I could only self program if I had two keys. I only have one...but I found a work-around. I removed the TINY chip from my working key, and glued it to the car's dashboard key slot trim ring. I removed the chips from all of my other keys that I ordered, so they wouldn't conflict. It Works!!!
BTW, I found a mom n pop locksmith who cut the keys for me for $3 each.

My husband was researching how to program a car key. He found it online. You have to put key in ignition and do a bunch of maneuvers and supposedly works. I don't know that for sure, just what he told me. Maybe just on certain car models.
Found this on YouTube

Home Depot worked for me as well. They cut and programmed a key to my 2007 Ford F-150.

I'm rather disgusted with dealers these days. I took my son's car in to a Toyota dealership after the car broke down and was towed in. They called me after the diagnosis, would be a few days, so I went up to retrieve some of his possessions and they give me this long song and dance about how they lost his key and we were locked out, but hang on, another was being cut right then and there. All they needed was his VIN and they could reproduce the key.

How much were you charged for your last lock-out and had a new key made from scratch? Did you know it was this Easy?
