Can anyone recommend a place that can cut a car key? I have a 2006 Camry, that I need to have its key cut. I will most likely get a blank (with the chip in it) off of ebay and bring it to the cutter.

Thanks in advance.

Any Toyota dealer. They will have the blanks. All you need to do is provide them your VIN, and they can make you a new one.

Anyone should be able to cut the key, like Home Depot, Walmart etc, but you'll need to take it to the dealership to have your car programmed since you say you have a chip in it.

You can easily find the programming instructions on the internet - for our 2006 Acura, we just had to turn the key off and on 3 times, honk the horn, and flash the lights. Well, it was something stupid like that. You probably do not need to waste your time at the dealership if you can get the key cut somewhere else.

Is that what your dealer told you? It seems like most cars need to follow directions similiar to what alibaba1579 posted.

Dealers charge ridiculous amount of money to cut a key. The cheapest way I found was to buy the blank key (with chip) and a keyfob on ebay, get the key cut, then find the programming instructions for the key and the key fob and do the programming yourself. This way you save ~$250.

Ditto about buying on ebay - WAY cheaper than the dealership, as long as you can wait a few days. Same goes for the door lock clickers - you can buy those used for really cheap, and reprogram them yourself too.

That's what I found on the internet back in 2005 when I needed the key. Did a quick youtube search and apparently someone found the tech article to self program.

I bought keys with chips via eBay. I cannot find a locksmith or anyone else who will cut the key. Programming it is NOT my issue. Getting it cut is my issue. Home Depot and Lowe's flatly refuse to cut it. Locksmiths give me a BS answer as to why they won't cut a key. Bottom line is that I saved HUGE money buying exact chipped keys and door fobs...but they are worthless if I can't get them cut.
