In this modern world, are there any techniques available to identify the water source? I'm planning to drill a well for home water usage in Loudoun and wondering if there is some way to pre-determine the water. I was told by the neighbors of this land that possibility of water is very slim on this 1.2acre land as this land has a major rock ledge. Any one has any experience or comments please?

Must be well day on the NoVa forum. Have you tried a dowser (only half-joking)?
Hydro-fracking has produced working wells in tough parts of Loudoun; talk to Harley Drilling (301) 898-1068.

Call a company who drills wells and ask them to go out to the property and tell you if a well is possible.

I did call them and all telling me that no guarantee of water existence, only way they can find out is to drill So I was wondering any other tool or reliable Geographic Information System (GIS) can be used ?
