A lot of variables could have gone into this.

Northern Virginians. And yes, Northern Virginians, collectively, are very heartless, self-absorbed people.

It's sad, but a lot of people have the mentality of "oh someone else will stop" and sure enough no one does.

I helped a guy last week who was trying to push a car out of the roadway last week. I came upon him, while others cars just went around, someone even honked their horn at him. My coworker and I asked him if he needed a hand and we pushed him onto the shoulder. I asked if he needed a jump start, but he said it was his alternator and he had called someone already. So we left him and went on our way. 5 minutes out of my day, it's not too hard to give...

Yes, it is sad. I would call 911 so that a professional can respond. But there are a lot of mentally ill people out there and you cannot tell if they are asleep, stoned, drunk or dead. I would not approach someone.

This is media sensationalism at its finest. Can you really tell from that video what was going on in this situation? Perhaps someone was telling people the police and EMS had been called and to move along? Could they tell the guy was actually dead/dying and not just passed out?

I think some facts need to be beared out here before we act like these are all awful human beings who just ignored a dying guy. And besides, if he already was dead, what could they have done exactly?

Agreed. Look at the video. I see people in the background checking on him. Also, did the bus driver stay, or just continue on his route? Did he call it in? However, the article did say that the police are looking for witnesses to the accident.
