"They're everywhere, not just here in DC! In Chicago, you'd be lucky if they actually spoke a lick of english."

Analogy was the wrong word, I just didnt see why speaking english, suni/shiite, etc was part of this. The guy might be an immigrant but I dont see it as relevant to this tragic story. If they passed the driving test then they know enough english and enough about the rules of the road as any non-immigrant here in the US. Non-immigrants get into plenty of really tragic and avoidable accidents also.

Beyond that, not all cabbies are immigrants, I've been in plenty of cabs in DC and Washington Flyer with cabbies that were 100% american

The vast majority of Arlington Red Top and Blue Top drivers are foreign born: many west africans, many from Pakistan and Egypt, some Somalis, a few hispanic drivers, and some East asian drivers.

When I said "they're everywhere", I was referencing bad cabbies, nothing more nothing less. The part about finding a cabbie in the cab line of OHare, is fact, nothing more nothing less. I have spent more than a lifetime's worth with the OHare cabbies, one of the reasons I decided to leave an move here (one too many 6am flights to National during winter for me). The part about the can ride from hell in NYC, is fact, nothing more intended.

Quite frankly, my appoligies if I offended anyone, was not my intention. But life needs some lighter moments of humorous reflection on ourselves.

Sincerely,

Your Loudoun suburbanite republican 2.2 kids 1.5%'er with the Volvo - cracker!

The words "Volvo" and "republican" are contradictions.

Please rephrase and repost.

1.5% and living in Loudoun are contradictory. More likely "aspiring" 1.5%. If you were actually in the top 1.5% of U.S. households you'd be driving an S series Benz or 9 series Bimmer, have a horse farm in Faquier and a townhouse in Georgetown and your kids would go to Sidwell Friends.

Okay okay, statement retracted. I tend to associate Loudoun with look-a-like tract houses on 1/4 acre lots. A different story out on the Western side.

Well, gee, thanks Cava for the buzz kill! :-)

Did I forget the part about the Volvo being an SUV with the gas guzzling V8? Does that fit better!

I'm ok with the aspiring part, but given the price of housing in this town in general, I think I'm 1.5% in other places....such as maybe, Cleveland!
