LOVE the volunteering idea. That would take away the awkwardness of standing around with nothing to say to each other (and would help me explain to my husband the value in meeting 'weird internet people')

Yeah, teamwork!

Or ... better yet ... we can design a bus route for Car 54 to pick us all up!

I really like this organization and they are always doing something around this region each weekend

Volunteer Fairfax

Though it doesnt look like they have anything happening right now.

I also heard of some good Habitat projects happening in Lorton through a friend who did a landscape project for them (pro bono of course)

It's all fun and games till someone starts talking about comic books, Star Trek, or Lord of the Rings.

I don't know how I missed this earlier, but I'd love to meet up - and you can call me Flamingo - as stated, it would depend on where, Springfield would actually be better for me then Herndon or such.

I was looking at the map, trying to figure out what's most central to everybody here. It's tough, 'cause there are basically three main areas where it seems like most people here live: Dulles/Sterling/Herndon/Manassas/Reston; Arlington/McLean/Alexandria/Falls Church/Annandale; and Springfield/Woodbridge/Lake Ridge/Burke.

Maybe we should do three events!

I'd be up for volunteering at Habitat or the like; I did it once a long time ago, but I don't remember if they take people who volunteer for just that day.

For now, I'm curious: If I were to show up around, say, 10:00 AM tomorrow at the IHOP on Route 50 OR (six miles farther west) the one on Blake Lane in Fairfax, would anyone else here show up?
