I was wondering how long it would take to commute between Manassas and Rosslyn during rush hour (living in Manassas and working in Rosslyn). My husband and I live in DC and want to move to the suburbs. I will work in Rosslyn and he will work in Crystal City. He could take the VRE directly to Crystal City but I am wondering if my commute (by car) to Rosslyn would be a pain. Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

All I can say is....Don't Do It!!!

Quality of life is very important, imo.

Btw, have you checked out Manassas? Coming from DC, you are in for a major culture shock (did I say Major?) I would highly recommend closer-in suburbs like Alex, Arlington, Fairfax, etc.

Big pain. I'd say you're looking at around a 70 minute commute each way at least. I'd recommend someplace closer in. Burke has VRE service as well and will shave a good chunk off of that commute time. Housing is more expensive, but you can find deals here and there, and the schools are better.

Eek! Yes it would be a pain. However, you can navigate it. Just take Omniride from Manassas to West Falls Church, and then Metro to Rosslyn. Web site is Manassas Metro Direct AM Schedule.

If you try to drive from Manassas to Rosslyn in the morning you will lose your marbles.

Depends on the schools. Burke area schools (Robinson?) are better than Osbourn and Osbourn Park, but probably not any better than Stonewall or Battlefield.

I agree with dullnboring. Manassas to Falls Church would take you more than an hour. Stonewall has gone straight down the toilet; there is a large gang problem. Battlefield is better, but that would be a hellish commute, too. PWCS takes a back seat to FCPS--always has, always will.
