Yea those items are all over the place in the small towns along I-81. Next time you are heading down I-81 check them out. When I was in Lexington last spring I saw an antique shop with non-traditional goods like that.
Right now because of the pickers show its almost impossible to find. I used to be big into street markets and I can tell you its not the right place to go for it. You gotta go to the old towns that had these general shops and stops and then go to the salvage yards in those towns.
For old toys you will have a better chance online frankly. Ebay is still the king of vintage toys, specifically that 1940s-1950s pseudo-future type. Very expensive right now though.
