Me and my fiancee are relocating to NOVA. I will be working in Alexandria and she will be working in Mclean. We both just graduated from college and our budget is about $1600-$1800 a month for rent. Can any of you reccomend any decent places to live? Also we also would like any insight on riding the metro.

Arlington is between McLean and Alexandria, quite literally. You should be able to find a nice place in the Ballston/Clarendon/Courthouse corridor, along Metro's Orange Line. There are several Metro stations in Alexandria as well -- go to Metro's website to see if any are located near your workplace.
Unfortunately, there are no Metro stops in McLean. The Tyson's Corner area, which is actually much closer to Vienna than McLean, will have four Metro stops eventually, but that project is years away. Right now, working in McLean means either driving, which most people do, or finding some combination of subway and Metrobus.

Suggest Falls Church - might be a little more affordable, or Annandale. If one of you is working in McLean, the other in Alexandria, why not look at Vienna? One can drive to work, and one can take the metro. Lots of rentals available near Vienna metro.

Also around the Dunn Loring Metro. But if the McLean means Tysons, forget about using 123-North to get there from Vienna. It's a daily disaster. There are alternatives, fortunately. Vienna to Alexandria (King Street) would be about 45 minutes on the Metro, including a change of trains at Rosslyn.

Clarendon to King Street would be about 30 minutes via Metro. Would also give you an easier entre into McLean/Tysons by car. 1600-1800 should cover something in Clarendon, so I'd concur with <claremarie> that this would be a prime area to investigate...
