Mahatma, shouldn't you be "keeping it real" in some project instead of on an internet message board?I know you want DC to be like an episode of the wire, but take solace in the fact that "us nova people"are likely the ones who have transformed DC from a dilapidated cesspool to one of America's best cities. You better enjoy your vision of it, because its days are numbered.

When I lived up there I used to enjoy going to the MD side of Great Falls.

For a while I was dating a girl in Silver Spring, and we would sometimes meet in Rockville. Furthermore, I preferred the IKEA in College Park to the one in Woodbridge, so I went there often.

Oh yes, we are provencial, unless you live in Arlington, Alexandria, near a metro line, VRE or inside the beltway. But other than that, we are pretty provencial. We only go into DC a half dozen times a year and Not sure about going to MD, which we only go to to get to the bay, ocean, relatives, UM, Batimore or mountain bike riding.

Is that supposed to hurt my feelings? I guess in the hood it all boils down to how good your Mama's BBQ is or how expensive those sneakers you stole of some hipster at gallery place are.

DC has always been great around the national mall and museums, and a few neighborhoods that weren't looted and pillaged from 1968-1990, but the rest of it was pretty damn awful until those mean old gentrifies came in and literally rebuilt it.

You're just bitter because you know it's the truth. Also, you're neighborhood is next.

Forget the river, I live in DC and never go to Maryland.

Montgomery County is like Fairfax County without all the jobs, PG County is like NE DC without the gentrification, and Baltimore is like the Molly Pitcher rest stop without a safe parking spot.

True, and it's only getting better as it gentrifies even more. But we have to be thankful that Virginia was attracting businesses for us to work at while we had a mayor who smoked rocks.
