I just applied to Loudoun County and Prince William County Public Schools. Does anyone know if it is difficult to get a special education job in those counties with only a provisional license? Does anyone know how long it takes for them get back to you? I have a bachelor's degree and the legal aspects of special education course complete. Any advice would great!

What is your undergrad in? What subjects/grade levels do you want to teach? I have a grad degree in secondary math education, but no special ed courses. I had numerous schools trying to recruit me to get a second masters (in special ed) who wanted to hire me while I was completing those courses. They are desperate for people who actually know secondary math in special ed.

Special ed is always in demand, but I would be interested to hear what happens. Did you do the educateva career switcher program?

My undergraduate degree is in sociology. I really want to teach special education social studies or English. But, I also have 18 credits of statistics, geometry, and a course of algebra. I would be willing to teach middle school math or high school special education geometry or statistics. I know that state of Maryland has a special education course in statistics. I have not heard of the career switcher program.

Can't hurt to apply to positions and see what interviews you can get. Fairfax County will post their openings in June, I believe. Get your application on file, but then submit your resume to the principals directly as well.
