My husband will be working in Chantilly . We are looking for an apartment in a nice, affordable area in town, or nearby with a non-terrible morning commute. Our projected budget cap is in the vicinity of $1500. Any suggestions for pet-friendly places? Thanks!

PS Any general thoughts on the area that people would want to volunteer, these two Floridians will much appreciate them!

Give us more details about what you like - suburban, busy, quiet, new building, old, small town, city, etc. 1 BR or 2? For the most part, the areas around Chantilly are suburban with newer apartments and most areas you would be driving to go places (not too unlike most places in Florida). But if you like a smaller town feel, there would be some options such as Herndon. Or if you want to live in what is somewhat like a small city, there would be other options like Reston.

Generally, the farther out you go the more bang for your buck, but commutes can stink and you'll pay in gas. $1500 should get you a decent 1 BR apt out there. A 2-BR might be older, if you can find one.

I know nothing about apartments. Having typed that a quickie Googling of "sully station apartments" turns up this place:

Sully Station Apartments

that appears to be within your range - I did NOT check for "pet friendly".

Chantilly (and all the spy buildings) are 1 to 2 miles north or here (as you can see by moving around the map).

If you don't mind a short commute (~15 mins), I would suggest Centreville.

I lived at Lakeside a few years ago and really liked the complex - nice lake, quiet, and the amenities were enjoyable. I took a look at their site, all of their 1 bedrooms are under your budget.
