About 14 months back, I posted that I was moving to Reston.

Well, after shelling out several thousands for rent, food and other ancillary necessities, even leaving a position with the government after securing a Secret Clearance - I left. It's a 'rat-race' there. I will never return.

It is more crowded there then New Jersey and New York.

I got OUT! And didn't get sucked into a unhappy lifestyle just for the sake of a J.O.B.

I GOT Out!!!

Best wishes, everybody...if you love it, great, if you don't, I feel your pain.

This is just factually wrong. Have you ever heard of population density? Northern New Jersey and NYC are much much denser and more crowded than Northern Virginia.
Or maybe you are talking about rural NJ and upstate New York... in which case, why would you expect them to be more crowded?

Well, to quote the immortal Bogey, as Rick Blaine didn't say in Casablanca, "We'll always have Pittsburgh".

Good for you. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholders. I personally love Reston. But I know some people don't.

If I were to leave, I'd move somewhere closer to the beach. My family love beaches. But I haven't found a beach town that has other perks (jobs, cultural, etc) comparable to NOVA. Maybe California. However, the housing cost in Cali makes NOVA look cheap.

Congratulations!! Everyone should do what makes them happy. This area is not for everyone. I think it's fine to let people know, although, possibly some more information about yourself and exactly why you didn't like it compared to where you DO like would be great for potential NoVAns.

If you think Reston is bad, try living in Baltimore City. You think Reston is more crowded then NJ/NY? LMAO

So how do you like living in Boise, ID?

OP already mentioned that he/she thought Reston was too crowded
