I'm trying to search for ABA services for my 3.5 year old son. We want to move to Woodbridge but I'm searching online and I'm coming up with nothing. Also, how are the schools in that area with special education?

I don't know much except that I was told to stay far away from Prince William County Public schools if you have a child on the spectrum. Fairfax has the best, then I believe Loudoun.

Having lived in both Fairfax and Prince William, I would disagree with anyone who makes a general statement that one county is better than the other in terms of Special Education Services. However, sometimes there is a difference in the level of compliance among schools within the same county. As long as the parents stay actively involved in the Special Education process and is aware of their rights, quality services will be provided.

Since the OP is considering Woodbridge, you may want to call the PWCS Parent Resource center, which specializes in Special Education services, to ask the question about ABA. SpecialEducation - PRC Overview

We have friends that are both special education teachers. One teaches in PW and one in Fairfax. Both agree Prince William has the stronger program. Normally we would never inquire about the programs but we had friends who were looking to come to the area and they have a child with autism so we asked those who work directly with the programs.

Have you looked at services in Maryland? My best friend's son is autistic, and they moved to Maryland because all services are better for special needs children (that is what she told me).

You just never know and that's the scary part.

My coworker has an autistic son (now in high school). She spent most of his years in the Alexandria area and loved the school system (not sure which one it was specifically). After a divorce, she moved up to the Ft. Meade area (again, I don't know the school system). It was a 2 year nightmare for her and her son. As soon as she could manage it, she moved back to Alexandria.
