I thought that store was foreign owned now? I could be mistaken but for some reason I thought it was. For those looking for the "country" feel. I'm curious what you mean? Rebel flags flying in the yard or back windows of an American made pick up? Abandoned cars in the yard? I've been in PWC since 73 and I'm not sure what's southern and what's not. Obviously a persons southern accent will give them away but other than that I'm not sure what to look for.

I actually saw someone flying one out of their Chevy truck on PW Parkway, two weeks ago

An occasional flag doesn't make it a southern area. I just look at PWC as an area that's gone from backwoods to seriously NOVA and just getting worse. Talking about urban sprawl with the traffic and all. It doesn't look southern nor does it look northern to me.

got me, haven't stepped foot in it in decades. I just grab diesel across the street by Hoadly and glance over from time to time

There is not a place in this whole country where I wouldn't lock my doors period. Just good street smarts.

PWC reminds me of Louisville/Jefferson County outside of the old city limits. It has country influence but ultimately it is suburban for the most part. Stafford County and Fredericksburg remind me of where my mother lives in Hardin County, KY. A long history of being country but slowing turning into a more suburban place.

I agree that it doesn't make it southern, but I was just acknowledging the fact that what you were asking about has been seen in the county.

As I stated earlier, I can see both sides of this. There are parts of the county that definitely have a southern vibe but parts that do not. Driving through places like Nokesville (parts of it), Old Town Manassas, some of the houses on Featherstone near Veterans Park in Woodbridge, and parts of Manassas in PWC (Purcell Road), definitely have a southern-ness to them, but that's about it. The people are generally more laid back than in closer in suburbs too.

I think that is more of a cultural norm than an indication of where you live. I know people who lock their doors no matter what and that is the way I have been raised.
