Anyone have any thoughts (pro or con) on the Dominion Sewer Line Repair program?

Our neighbor is currently having his sewer line dug up in in the midst of his front lawn and he is suggesting to all of us neighbors to sign up for the program, as it's less than $6 a month for $5,000 coverage, and this digging is already over the $10K mark.

Anyone have experience with this?

Is that sort of like having your totally-static inside phone wiring insured?

Call me crazy, but maybe Dominion ought to concentrate on its core business of delivering electric power, and improving the reliability thereof? The digging I'd really like to see Dominion involved with is burying those power lines that always get knocked out by winter and summer storms.

But back on topic, I wonder if, in the event that a subscriber to this service has the infamous Orangeburg pipe (bituminized fiber pipe used until the 1970s, when PVC pipe replaced it) and has a break in the sewer line, whether Dominion would replace the entire length of pipe. It wasn't clear from Dominion's letter if this were the case or not.

I'll be interested in opinions on this as well, we get the letter ad nauseum.... seems to me that it doesn't pay for much, but I'm not sure.

This is the first time that I've heard of this program, but considering the number of houses in our 1965 neighborhood that have had to dig up their front yard to replace the sewer line, I'll be checking it out closer.

This is what I found online:

Sewer Line Repair Terms and Conditions
This is a repair program offered by Dominion and does not cover replacement of entire sewer or septic lines. An entire replacement is necessary if the sewer or septic line in question has more than two non-connected problems regardless of total length of the line.

Sorry for the bump, but I was wondering if anyone signed up for and received service from this program.
