My roof fan on my townhouse burned out last fall.

I had it installed 10+ yrs ago and don't remember who.

Do roofers do this replacement or do I need an electrician?

Anyone have recommendations?

Thx!

Most roofers will do it, as will general contractors.

An electrician might, but they may be hesitant to get on the roof (if required).

Where is your townhouse?

It will depend on various factors. You should get several quotes. For a point of reference though, I live in a townhouse and asked my roof guy what he thought replacement would cost, since I'm probably about 5 years away from it. He said $5,000. I'm guessing there will be unforeseen costs and it will come in higher but I'm expecting it to cost me no more than $10,000. Townhouses tend to have much smaller roof areas than SFHs. I definitely will get a bunch of quotes when that time comes though.

Did a 1700sf sfh roof for under $7k, 30 year shingles complete tear off. Get some bids. I used angieslist big deal offers to negotiate down. I think there was one for $4k for town house roof 30 year shingles.

would depend on if they could apply a layer of shingles over what you have, or tear it all and replace from scratch.

My contractor would be around $3,000 to tear it down and start from scratch (assuming no plywood replacement etc needed once they get down to that level)
