There is much more to Reston than 1970's split-levels and quasi-A-frames. I live on a street full of traditional colonials! Much of North Reston was built up in the 80's and 90's -- not many split-levels or A-frames up there. This photo tour shows lots of different types of housing.

A paroxysm can be of any emotion, so not redundant.

But OK, I stand corrected on the incredible diversity of housing stock found nowhere but Reston, the jewel of the Dulles Corridor.

Don't rule out living in Reston! (I love Reston!) And I'm wondering if you could find something in your price range, close by or inside Reston. Just my feeling...but it seems rents are stabilizing and even dropping in some areas.

Good luck on the move!! And welcome to NOVA.

OK, I was just in Reston this afternoon. And I have to admit I was surprised at how nice it was, compared with the decidedly more '70s area I'd seen previously. Lots of large trees. Some of the housing stock is newer than my taste, but none of what I saw (just off Whiele Avenue) was ugly, and some was actually charming.

Ignoring the houses (not saying anything good or bad about them), Reston in the spring is lovely.

Yeah, this part I saw today was way more attractive than large swaths of Arlington I can think of.

Maybe in a couple of years, I'll have to change my screen name to Brestonian.
