Maybe Tysons can help me understand this or anyone else...

Why is Arlington so intent on not having Fairfax Drive/Clarendon Boulevard and Wilson Boulevard as one-way streets? I've e-mailed the Arlington department of transportation and haven't gotten any response.

It seems to me that making Fairfax Drive/Clarendon Boulevard one-way eastbound and Wilson Boulevard one-way westbound the entire way from Rosslyn to Ballston makes too much sense. In my experience, one-way streets are safer for cyclists and pedestrians, and it usually helps the flow of traffic. Wilson Boulevard in Ballston also needs room for bike lanes and could even provide more parking with a conversion to one-way streets.

However, I don't know of any plans to make these roads one-way through Ballston and in fact I read today that they want to undo the one-way streets in Rosslyn: Draft Rosslyn Sector Plan - Rosslyn Sector Plan - Arlington County Government. I don't get it!

If bike lanes are why you want this, keep in mind the Custis Trail goes all the way to Rosslyn from EFC. Much safer for cyclists than riding on any of those streets.
