Our company is moving several Japanese families to the Maryland area, maybe an hour or so from Alexandria. Are there any other Japanese families or groups in the area they can connect with? Thank you for any information you can provide.

I'd suggest contacting the Japanese Embassy to ask for help. You could also try the US-Japan Friendship Commission (which may, by the way, be the very smallest Federal agency).

In that case, wouldn't Southern MD make more sense as a place to live?
There is no cluster of Japanese expats or even Japanese Americans that I know of in the DC area. They tend to live among everyone else.
