I searched some threads for this development but it seems like many were taken down?

Specifically I was curious if everyone thought the premium for the development was worth it.

Is the year-round school there good for kids?

High is T.C. Williams I would presume?

Thank you kindly for your time.

Great community that is handicapped by a mediocre-average school system. The year-round school is Samuel Tucker if I remember right. I've heard mostly positive about that school. I'm a TC grad which is the HS. I'd say it is the same level of education as other schools in the Alexandria addresses of Fairfax County. The middle school situation is not great at all since both middle schools have had recent trouble with accreditation.

Cameron Station is a conveniently located, newish development that is right across the street from a major public library, and adjacent to a nice park. The development is very diverse in income and residents (ages, race, etc). We looked at moving there, but needed more space for the dogs. The premium pays for itself in the amenities - clubhouse, etc. Schools are not the greatest in Alexandria, but there are good private and religious schools. Home schooling is also an option.

Home schooling is not an option for non-Trump/non-crazy people LOL

Is the premium for this development worth it? Starting to get serious about finding a long term place and looking here, Fairfax, Burke or Arlington.

It really depends on your work situation. If you're Federal Courthouse or Patent/Trademark, then the premium is worth it if only due to the much, much easier commute. there are all types in the community, but it does skew more to families with younger children, so if that's where you are at this stage in life, you'll have a large group of neighbors navigating similar joys/woes of parenting. It has a small set of shops and a restaurant in the complex, so good for dry cleaning, etc., plus a nearby new-ish Harris Teeter and an Aldi is being built across the street from it. Plus you have a Sunday morning farmer's market (a decent one, but a few too many craftspeople v. farmers for my ideal) and a good dog park right there as well. Parking can be a bit of an issue.

I will say the area around Cameron Station is undergoing improvements and Alexandria is making a visible effort to build up the Landmark area. That said the investment you would need to put into Cameron Station is a lot to ask for a school situation that is so-so at best.

A lot of my friends who are first-time home buyers with kids who need public schools have talked up Lorton and Kingstowne. I personally think the school situation is less ricky that Alexandria City Public Schools.
