Chances of finding something available for Christmas Eve when most restaurants close early (except for Chinese) are extremely slim.

At my former hotel, we did not accept group bookings for Christmas Eve. We closed our restaurant, bar and catering facilities at 2pm on Christmas Eve.

Reminds me of my dopey sister, who booked us for a meal on Christmas day at the hotel she was staying at. The workers were miserable and the food was awful and took a long time to get to us because of the skeleton crew.

With all the other days of the year, there really isn't a reason to have a baby shower on Christmas Eve. Any time in the last two or three months of the pregnancy will do.

Oh for heaven's sake. Why does everyone feel the need to make all sorts of assumptions and be so critical? We have no idea what the situation is. It was a perfectly harmless question.

If you note, I asked for clarification in the beginning of the thread. There has been none.

And I used to work in a church, so I can attest that Christmas Eve was easily the busiest day of the year for us. There's no way we could have accommodated a private group.

The OP doesn't have to give a reason. Or maybe she works. Still no reason for everyone to be so judgmental.

I for one was not being judgmental. I think we are just trying to help the OP manage their expectations.

You're right, you're one of the people who wasn't being judgmental. It just strikes me as really odd that such an innocuous question has resulted in so many assumptions being made and so much finger wagging!

I read the post as "by" that date, not on that date. I assumed that was the due date of the baby, or as close as they want to get to it, as that's generally the due date for the shower.
