Front Royal to me seems like a place that lacks an identity of its own, and as others have said feels very dated. Its really more of a bedroom community and its development has been heavily influenced by the fact it gets a lot of traffic as Washington DC's gateway to the Shenandoah, some of it is positive and some of it negative.

I personally feel there are many other communities around that area with a stronger identity of their own and which fit better into what most people define as a friendly, close-knit, small town. Winchester, Staunton, Harper's Ferry and even Middleburg being a few examples.

But of course this is all subjective and its just my opinion.

Front royal is okay, but I feel like there are so many other amazing places to live in the US that are just as cheap. And while DC is nice, if you like beaches and water, the closest beach is probably 3 hours away.
In colorado, there are nice towns up in the mountains 30-40 minutes from Denver that are cheap.. and Denver being in the middle of the US, you can hop on a short flight to most of the US.

Which towns would you classify as cheap? I was just there. We landed in Denver but stayed out quite a ways. Talking to local officers there I didn't see much in the way of "cheap" towns. From what they all said was that the Marijuana market is driving housing prices out of reach.
