After about 5 hours or so of minimal if any additional accumulation it started coming down hard here about 2:30. (Springfield)

same here. I was going to make another snow blower round of the driveway around 4 but the wind is swirling so much I don't think it would do any good. At this point I probably won't even try again until morning.

This morning? You wouldn't know I'd done anything. The snow on

which remained stuck to the shovel), said "nope", and went back
inside.

We went out and shoveled twice yesterday, the last time around 11 p.m. When we looked out the window in the late morning, it was as if we never shoveled at all! Now with the wind blowing the snow around, shoveling right now would be an exercise in futility

I take it your a Native with terrible advise like that.

You NEVER let the snow get ahead of you! You get out there every couple hours and keep it under control. It's MUCH easier to fly through it when it's an inch or two than when it's a foot and a half and wet. Common Sense!

However, when it is windy outside, it's a futile task to shovel as the wind just blows it right back into the spot you just shoveled.

I shoveled four times yesterday. Hours after the first time, my shoveled steps and walkway looked exactly like my neighbor's unshoveled steps and walkway. (Disheartening!) However, I'm glad I did it. The previously shoveled snow was much lighter than the untouched snow.

It's frustrating to shovel in a swirling blizzard, but you're doing yourself a favor. I couldn't get to my car, so I'm dreading shoveling that compacted snow.

I've shoveled during the storm three times since Friday. So today's shoveling will be x times easier than if I'd let it all accumulate.

It was much easier snow blowing the 6-8 inches that was still on the driveway this morning versus the 18 or so yesterday afternoon.

Some of my neighbors cleaned up all the snow not only their driveway, but the walkway to their front door and the sidewalk too. I don't know if I can handle all that today lol...

Or, you know, a foot and a half and powdery/light as can be (as is the case in most of NoVA right now)?
