I would take a look at Birch Pond. THe neighborhood is located next to Greenbriar. My in laws lived there, very quiet TH neighborhood located behind the church at Route 50/Fairfax County Parkway.

I would also put Faircrest in Centreville on your list as well as Sully Station.

I suppose I would also need to ask where in Herndon is the work - since the area that can have a "Herndon, VA" address is also incredibly large. I know the post office split off "Oak Hill" some years back, but many places still list their address as Herndon - including ones that are much closer to the City of Fairfax limits than they are to the Town of Herndon.

If you were close to Stringfellow and the Parkway, it wouldn't take that long to get up the Parkway (West Ox light might be worst part) to the south parts of Herndon (south of the Toll Road).

.
Good idea, it's a small community but right off of the FFX Co Pky and Rt 50. Be aware, it is not Birch Pond Lane, that's behind it and is single family homes, but the neighborhood is called Birch Pond as that's the name of the pond and family farm that was there once. I think the main Street is Dogberry Lane. Just looked and two homes are for sell, one just over 500K and one under it. We use to attend the church in front of it, great place with a good preschool!

It means that it's the suburbs in the worst possible way. Strip malls full of chain restaurants and no real culture to speak of. There isn't really a community feel to the area as there is no place to congregate.

It's obvious you've never spent any time in that area. I have/had a lot of family and friends that live in South Riding and they have a lot of community events and farmers market. Lots of gathering spots in the neighborhoods.

Oops, googlemapping East Lake Chantilly brings up a slightly different neighborhood than this community's actual address. It had originally brought up the area next to the Target and Costco, which seems pretty cutoff from anything. My mistake
