Thinking about Sterling VA but I'm not finding out a lot about it. Would it be better to work there and live somewhere else? How is public transportation there? The apartments I am finding are like $1,200, $1,400.

Public transportation is iffy in Sterling. There are busses; just not sure they will bring you to where you need to be. Are you looking for cheaper rents? Unlikely, unless you get a roommate.

goofy328, are you moving up due to a job transfer / move? rental in general up here is pretty pricey. I rented an apartment in Centreville about 2 years back and i did pay around the $1200$1300 range. I agree with spencgr for public transport. Let us know and we'll try to help you with some info

I like living & working in sterling. I think the $ I save in gas/car maintenance etc makes up for other costs.

It depends on where you live in Sterling. There are parts of it that I wouldn't recommend at all.

Looking into something up there. Not a transfer just another situation entirely.
