Anyone commuting from Brableton to Navy Yard in DC? Do you try avoiding the Greenway or not worth the effort? How long does it take you?

Any way of using 50 to avoid the Greenway?

Thanks!!

50 is not a freeway, and inbound 66 is terrible during commute hours. Have you considered taking the commuter bus?

It would be highly dependent on when you leave. If you could get on 66 inside the Beltway before HOV starts, it might not be too bad. If you are stuck taking another route into DC, good luck.

I'd try a commuter bus.

I can't help you but it's probably one of the worse commutes you could do. I work at the Navy Yard and we have very few people coming in from out that way.

In the AM that would be leaving your house no later than 5:30 am, as well as over $8 in tolls (one way).

Commuter bus commuter bus, commuter bus.

(and I am someone who commutes 1.5 hours each way, and would never drive from Brambleton to Navy Yard as a daily commute.)

In addition, there is very limited parking at the Navy Yard. I would also vote for the commuter bus.

At that hour, I certainly wouldn't take the Greedway. Take the Toll Road for sure though, and possibly pay the ransom on the way home with how bad 28/Waxpool are.

Well, to get to Brambleton, you wouldn't go anywhere near Waxpool you'd need to take 50 or 606 to avoid the Greenway. Both should be fine around 5:30 am; but will be backed up (and painful) in the afternoon.

50 is not a freeway. its a 4 lane road with endless shopping centers, stripmalls, schools (thus school buses) and thousands of signal lights. It is similar to rt 1. it took me 45 mins to drive 10 miles on 50 from the Beltway to Arlington at 8 am last month
