Do courts (particularly Fairfax) provide any proof that a traffic ticket's been dismissed? I got my traffic ticket dismissed a few days ago and when I talked to one of the people working at the court house, she made it seem like the court doesn't do that.

I guess I'm concerned that there'll be some glitch in the system and I'll get an additional penalty for not paying my fine.

Thanks.

I would think that if you had a ticket, it would be linked to a court summons that would show the disposition of dismissed, if you looked it up in the county's court files.

You can look up your case online and it will say dismissed under final disposition. They don't mail anything out.

Speaking from one experience, they didn't send out or give a dismissal notice. When in court, the entry is inputted as " not prosecuted" ( the Latin word is used) and no fine is levied. You don't receive a written update like a airline receipt to show zero balance nor " charges dropped".

Bottom line is that no record of the ticket will be reflected into DMV.
