There are plenty of vultures in Reston all along both sides of the Silver Line on Sunrise Valley and Sunset Hills Road. They're called property developers.

Vultures*- Fairfax County, Virginia
We've seen turkey vultures. Some years back, I happened to look out the window at the back yard just in time to see a turkey vulture come from out of nowhere and deposit a possum carcass in the yard---yuck!

One day, we were driving on Herndon Pkwy and noticed a dead raccoon on the other side of the road. Two vultures were trying to eat it up all that traffic was getting in the way. Later in the day, when we returned home, the raccoon was on the sidewalk. Apparently, the vultures engaged in team work and moved it to the sidewalk

Anyway, traffic had stopped dead because the vulture was in the road grabbing a body of a dead something...... it hopped off to the side of the road w/the thing in its' mouth.. This was a first for me.
I only see them up close occasionally, a couple times on road kill and sometimes on the banks of the Potomac eating dead fish (once there were about 20). But they are in the air all the time, when you see large, beautiful, strong gliders in the sky, it's usually vultures.

Black and Turkey Vultures are very similar except Turkeys have red heads. They are both doing real well as species.

You should only worry if they drape a napkin around their necks, pull out a knife and fork and set down a plate!
