My wife is my caregiver. She has to work, so I have to sit in the car. She comes out to check on me once in a while. The day when I can take care of myself for the full day is coming soon. Just need a little more work to get there.

Back on topic: I hope you all get your power back soon, I remember having my power out for two weeks after Isabel. I know it's not fun.

I win! (well, at least so far) Power was out in my section of south Reston (several hundred homes) for 76 hours, from 10:00 AM Friday through 2:00 PM today. Fortunately, we have close friends near Reston Town Center who hosted the wandering penguins, i.e., my wife and myself, for two nights. Our Maine Coon cat, however, had to stay at home and rely on his not-inconsiderable fur to stay warm. He was OK but not the happiest of troopers. At the time power was restored today, the temperature on the main floor of our split level had dropped over the 3+ days since losing power from 70 to 52, and the upstairs bedroom level from 73 to a toasty 47 degrees.

Reston got hit about as hard as anywhere else in the region. Our overlords at the Reston Association have said it will take a month to clean up the damage just in the common space, which is mostly forested.

Hope everybody here in the NoVA forum made out OK.

As of about 7 hours ago a coworker of mine still did not have power. At the time the outage had been 108 hours.

We got our power back on Monday evening. We have a generator that kept key systems of the house up and running. Well worth every penny.
