Does anyone know a place in the NOVA area that I can sell SS? Some place that is decent and reputable.

Thanks.

I don't know of a place in Nova, hope you find one. Maybe there's a place in Sterling (LOL).

FWIW We decided to hold onto ours for another 5-6 years. Right now, silver is out of fashion and you won't get a good price for it. I actually know people who have donated it to Habitat Restore because the kids don't want it these days. But I think that will change and owning silver will become desirable once more. It's worth it to us to wait and see if we might get a better price in a few years.

If you find a good place, please post where you went. If you get a good deal, maybe I'll bring ours the next time I'm up in Nova.

Yeah, it is just too much to be lugging around and I am moving next year and refuse to cart it around. I want it to help fund the move also. I'm not interested I selling it to someone who wants to use it, but to melt it down or whatever they want to do with it. As you would know each piece weighs a ton and no one wants that.

There is a place in Alexandria that has gotten good reviews.

Sorry I can't help much with the silver, but FWIW I have a tip about saving money on moving. Most of the moving companies have fairly large minimums. We decided not to take a lot of our furniture when we moved from Nova to WBurg, so we found My Guys to be a really good deal. They also did a great job. If you're interested, I wrote a detailed review about it in the Moving Issues Forum. It would have been posted in July.

Don't know off hand, it is packed away. My grandmother bought it for my parents and put their initials on it. So, I always thought no one would want it for that reason.

Objectively, it is lovely.

Thanks for the tip. I am planning a move to the Staunton area, relatively close from Arlington, similar to your move. I have a small one bedroom and am starting to think just what I really need to take.

Sadly, that was popular for a while. If all else fails, check with BeverlyBremer.com. It’s out of Atlanta, GA, but has a huge on-line presence.

Best of luck.

Assuming you mean an actual dining set (forks, spoons, knives)? If so, why don't you just use it as your everyday? Most can go right in the dishwasher, and items being used all of the time do not tarnish (so, no polishing.)

I have two (inherited) sets of china, crystal, and silver. The 2nd set of each I use for everyday use.

I often joke that I am the poorest rich woman, or the richest poor woman......

Oh heavens, it's way too heavy. And I certainly don't want to polish it. No, I want it gone, I'm just not attached to it at all.
